Lives are bartered between those who say they will, and don’t;
between those who say they will, and always do.
Lives are bartered between those thought true to their word,
yet betray without thought or feeling;
between those thought true to their word,
and are always so without fail.
Lives are bartered between one who
has no concept of friendship at all;
between one whose friendship is golden,
and who cherishes it as being there forever.
Lives are bartered between those whose selfish actions
break faith, erase all integrity;
between those whose actions build lasting faith and love.
Betrayal lurks between promises loaded with danger.
So easily found are those whose words
are spoken with thoughtless intentions…
with selfish dimensions…
with fearful jealousy…
with narcissistic duplicity.
So easily found are those devoid of feelings…
are those filled with hatred…
are those who must compete…
are those who inflict pain.
They are unworthy
of anything and everything.
They are liars, intentionally so.
They are not worthy of even seconds
of one’s time or thought.
When discovered, stop!
Speak not another syllable.
Never turn back.
Beware the opacity of feigned sincerity.
There is an ease to becoming lost
in a dark forest of lies
as the wind whistles
through bare branches,
sounds indecipherable to the
rationality of honesty, forcing one
to become hopelessly lost in the cold,
cloudy gray gloom of betrayal.
Never forget betrayal lurks between promises
that can seem so very genuine.
Learn quickly to know the difference.
If unsure, just as quickly, leave.
Step out. Step away.
The transparency of truth
will always shine
through the darkness.
Walk toward the sun.
There is goodness and warmth there.
Trust is only that which brings truth.
Search for it, clear-eyed.
It cannot be missed.
Once recognized, hold it close.
Never take it lightly.
Always give it back solemnly.
It will become a treasure,
as important as love,
and as comfortable as home.
