My condolences! I really do know about that dead mouse smell. It’s both gross and all too memorable!

I live in a NYC luxury (supposedly) apartment and, it seems, as part of my exorbitant rent are families of mice living in my walls. In every damn room. Having tried most everything, there are no easy ways to get rid of these annoying, filthy creatures.

Mouse poison kills them but then you never know where they’re going to die. It could be anywhere. So then you have to spend hours sniffing, searching for the body. I’ve found them under my couch, in a kitchen cabinet and even in my laundry basket. Ugh! Don’t ask!

I finally, finally found solution to keep the mice at bay. And here comes Amazon again. You buy pure peppermint oil and dab a few drops on pieces of cotton wherever you think they’re hanging out. They really, really hate the smell. And I haven’t seen or heard a mouse for many months.

PS: An even better solution is to have a cat. Or more than one cat. But that’s a whole other story…
